Made around 2000, the Tannoy Churchill is one of the most interesting speakers made by this fabled UK company. The cabinets were made in Canada using old world craftsmanship. The driver is a Tannoy 15" dual concentric design, to ensure full range bass with power and extension, and to ensure the best possible performance, the crossover is built in an external cabinet using top quality parts like Solen Hepta-Litz inductors and Dale precision resistors. Kimber Kable is used between the crossover enclosure and the main speakers. Only the best WBT binding posts are used on the back of the crossover enclosure.
These speakers are LARGE! Measuring around 2'W x 2'D x 4'H, they will make a statement in your room. However, as the speakers are trapezoidal shaped, they look sleeker and contemporary.

Rated at 95 db sensitivity, they can be driven by low powered tube amps, or if you prefer, a high quality solid state amplifier like the Ayre V-1xe power amplifier that we are also selling for the client. Also available is the matching Ayre K-1xe.
Sonically, these are exactly as you'd expect full range Tannoys to sound - bold, powerful, effortlessly dynamic with warmth and richness. Pink Floyd's Time is reproduced with stunning clarity when the clocks chime, with DEEP heartbeats, almost as if there is a subwoofer somewhere. Voices have a seductive richness and tone that draw you into the music. But unlike many overly warm and forgiving speakers, the Churchill has fantastic detail.
Soundstage is wide, and imaging is nice and sharp due to the coaxial drivers.
If you enjoy large scale music with no dynamic compression, if you want to recreate the natural tone and richness of a jazz ensemble, or you love modern R&B, these speakers will do it all without the harshness and brightness that so many modern speakers are guilty of.
