Power and Elegance

Flagship inspired technology, effortless scale and the natural musicality of Sonus faber.

The Sonetto VIII G2 is the largest floorstanding speaker in the Sonetto G2 collection, bringing technology developed for the flagship Suprema into a more approachable design. Its 3 way architecture combines a Camelia midrange driver, DAD silk dome tweeter and dual 8 inch woofers to deliver a presentation with serious scale, deep bass and the warmth and refinement Sonus faber is known for.

A more natural midrange

The Camelia driver brings voices and instruments closer to the character of the original performance.

First developed for Suprema, the 6.5 inch Camelia midrange uses a distinctive flower inspired diaphragm designed to reduce the resonances associated with conventional circular membranes. An aluminum phase plug helps improve clarity and dispersion, while the unpainted diaphragm preserves the natural material Sonus faber uses to create its signature organic midrange.

A cork chamber inspired by Suprema

Natural cork gives the midrange a quieter and more controlled environment to work in.

The tweeter and midrange are housed inside a dedicated sealed cork enclosure, another technology inherited from Sonus faber’s flagship Suprema project. Cork’s acoustic properties help control internal resonances and improve clarity through the mid and upper frequencies, allowing vocals and instruments to emerge with greater focus and natural texture.

Smooth, extended highs

The DAD silk dome tweeter delivers detail and air without drawing attention to itself.

Sonus faber’s 1.1 inch DAD Arrow Point tweeter extends beyond 30 kHz while maintaining the smooth tonal balance that defines the Sonetto sound. Fine details in cymbals, strings and recording ambience remain easy to hear, but the presentation stays refined enough for long listening sessions without unnecessary brightness or fatigue.

Bass with real authority

Dual 8 inch woofers give the Sonetto VIII G2 the scale to fill larger listening spaces.

Its two paper pulp sandwich woofers extend the speaker down to 33 Hz, delivering the weight needed for drums, electronic music and large orchestral recordings while remaining controlled and articulate. The flower patterned surrounds help reduce interference and improve dispersion, while the down vented enclosure allows the low end to integrate naturally with the rest of the speaker.

Built for coherence

Every driver is designed to work together as part of one complete presentation.

Sonus faber’s Phase Coherent crossover philosophy carefully aligns the phase behaviour of the drivers around the 350 Hz and 2,500 Hz crossover points. The goal is a more stable and believable soundstage where vocals remain focused, instruments occupy convincing positions and the speaker itself becomes less obvious in the room.

A more stable foundation

The concrete base helps keep unwanted vibration away from the music.

Sonetto G2 introduces a substantial concrete base designed to improve structural stability and reduce vibration transferred through the cabinet and floor. That gives the drivers a more controlled platform to work from, helping bass remain tighter and allowing smaller details to come through with greater clarity.

Italian craftsmanship

Natural materials and traditional Sonus faber design make the Sonetto VIII G2 as distinctive visually as it is sonically.

Its lute shaped cabinet combines real wood, leather and a concrete base in a design handcrafted at Sonus faber’s factory in Vicenza, Italy. The flowing cabinet shape helps control internal resonances while preserving the elegant furniture like appearance that has become part of the Sonus faber identity.

Award winning design and performance

The Sonetto G2 collection has already earned recognition for bringing flagship ideas into a more attainable speaker family.

The complete Sonetto G2 Series received a Speaker System category award at the 2024 HiVi Grand Prix from Stereo Sound. The Sonetto VIII G2 itself also earned an enthusiastic recommendation from Secrets of Home Theater and High Fidelity, whose reviewer wrote, “These are speakers that don’t cause fatigue. They just play music,” and ultimately rated the system “VERY highly recommended.”

Effortless with the right amplification

High sensitivity and serious power handling give the Sonetto VIII G2 plenty of room to grow.

With 90 dB sensitivity, a nominal 4 ohm impedance and recommended amplifier power from 50 to 400 watts, the Sonetto VIII G2 can work with a wide range of quality amplification. Give it a capable amplifier and it rewards you with stronger dynamics, deeper bass control and the ability to fill a larger room without losing the refinement and natural character that make Sonus faber speakers so engaging.

For listeners who want the scale and authority of a substantial floorstanding speaker without sacrificing warmth, craftsmanship or long term listenability, the Sonus faber Sonetto VIII G2 brings some of the company’s most ambitious technology into a beautifully balanced design.
