Sonus Faber Olympica Nova III

Italian craftsmanship, natural musicality and a soundstage that reaches well beyond the speakers.

The Sonus faber Olympica Nova III is built for listeners who want serious high end performance without losing the warmth and character that make Sonus faber so distinctive. Its 3 way design combines a dedicated natural fibre midrange driver, DAD silk dome tweeter and dual 180 mm woofers inside a beautifully sculpted Italian cabinet.

The Sonus faber sound

Rich, expressive and designed to keep the focus on the music.

The Olympica Nova III delivers detail without making detail the entire point. Vocals have body, instruments retain their natural colour and the soundstage feels open and layered without becoming clinical. It is a presentation that feels inviting on quieter recordings while still having the scale and dynamics to come alive when the music gets bigger.

Midrange that feels alive

Voices and instruments come through with texture, presence and natural warmth.

A dedicated 150 mm midrange driver uses a diaphragm made from cellulose pulp blended with natural fibres, helping preserve the organic character Sonus faber is known for. Its lightweight CCAW voice coil responds quickly to changes in the music, giving vocals greater expression while allowing piano, guitars and strings to sound full and convincing.

Detail without the edge

The DAD silk dome tweeter keeps the top end open, airy and easy to enjoy.

Sonus faber’s 28 mm DAD tweeter is designed to control the movement of the silk dome for more consistent high frequency performance. Cymbals retain their shimmer, strings have space around them and subtle recording details remain easy to hear without introducing the sharpness that can make brighter recordings tiring over longer listening sessions.

Bass with weight and control

Dual 180 mm woofers give the Olympica Nova III real scale without slowing the music down.

The two woofers are designed to combine rigidity with relatively low moving mass, allowing the speaker to reach down to 35 Hz while keeping bass lines controlled and articulate. There is enough weight for electronic music, rock and large orchestral recordings, but the low end remains composed and well connected to the midrange.

Stealth Ultraflex bass loading

Deep bass without the noise and turbulence of a conventional reflex port.

Instead of a traditional round port, the Olympica Nova III uses Sonus faber’s Stealth Ultraflex system, with a long aluminum vent running along the rear of the cabinet to manage airflow. The mirrored asymmetrical cabinets also give owners flexibility when positioning the speakers, helping the Nova III produce substantial room filling bass while remaining clean and controlled.

Designed to sound like one speaker

The crossover keeps the drivers working together instead of drawing attention to themselves.

Sonus faber’s Paracross crossover topology blends the tweeter, midrange and woofers at 250 Hz and 2,500 Hz. The result is a presentation that stays coherent as recordings become more complex, with focused vocals, properly connected instruments and a soundstage that remains stable rather than breaking apart between individual drivers.

Italian design you can feel

The Olympica Nova III looks more like handcrafted furniture than a conventional loudspeaker.

Its asymmetrical lute inspired cabinet combines flowing curves with natural wood, leather and aluminum, giving the speaker the unmistakable visual character of Sonus faber. The shape also helps manage internal resonances, allowing the cabinet design to serve both the sound and the appearance of the speaker.

Crafted in Italy

Every detail reflects Sonus faber’s long standing approach to Italian craftsmanship.

From the carefully finished woodwork to the leather and aluminum accents, the Olympica Nova III feels considered from every angle. It is a speaker designed to become part of the room rather than simply occupy space in it, combining serious acoustic engineering with the materials and craftsmanship that have defined Sonus faber for decades.

Award winning for a reason

The Olympica Nova III has earned recognition from some of the most respected names in high end audio.

The Absolute Sound named it an Editors’ Choice in 2022 and included it again among its 2023 Editors’ Choice loudspeakers from $12,000 to $20,000. SoundStage! Ultra was equally impressed, saying the Nova III “raised my expectations of what we should expect in a loudspeaker,” while praising both its sound and exceptional finish.

Easy to enjoy, rewarding with better amplification

The Olympica Nova III has the flexibility to grow with the rest of your system.

With 90 dB sensitivity, a nominal 4 ohm impedance and a recommended amplifier range of 50 to 300 watts, it can work with a wide variety of quality amplification. Give it a more capable amplifier and the rewards become even clearer, with stronger bass control, greater dynamic authority and a deeper, more convincing soundstage.

For listeners who want high end resolution and scale without sacrificing warmth, musicality or craftsmanship, the Sonus faber Olympica Nova III remains a beautifully balanced floorstanding speaker.
