Sonus Faber Lilium

Reference level scale, remarkable control and the unmistakable elegance of Sonus faber.

The Sonus faber Lilium is a 3.5 way floorstanding speaker from the Reference Collection, designed to bring power and delicacy together in one system. Its dual acoustic chambers, DAD tweeter, dedicated midrange, three woofers and separate infra-woofer allow it to reproduce everything from intimate vocals to large scale recordings with the warmth, transparency and natural musicality that define Sonus faber.

Two chambers, one complete sound

Separate acoustic environments allow Lilium to deliver deep bass without compromising the heart of the music.

Lilium combines two distinct cabinets within its lyre shaped enclosure. The front section handles the main musical spectrum while the separate rear structure manages the infra-low frequencies, allowing each section to work in a more controlled environment. The result is a presentation with substantial low frequency authority while preserving clarity, speed and openness through the midrange and treble.

Natural voices and instruments

A dedicated 180 mm midrange keeps the most expressive part of the music clear, textured and believable.

Sonus faber’s M18 XTR-04 midrange driver uses a powerful Neodymium magnet system to reproduce voices and instruments with speed and control. By giving the midrange its own carefully engineered role within the system, Lilium can reveal subtle texture and tonal colour without making recordings sound overly analytical or clinical.

Airy, effortless detail

The DAD Arrow Point tweeter reveals fine detail while maintaining the smooth character Sonus faber is known for.

A 28 mm extended range soft dome tweeter with DAD Arrow Point technology handles the highest frequencies, helping Lilium produce an open and spacious top end. Cymbals, strings and room ambience remain detailed and easy to follow while staying naturally connected to the rest of the presentation.

Bass with serious scale

Three woofers and a dedicated infra-woofer give Lilium the weight and authority to fill very large listening spaces.

Three 180 mm woofers work with a separate 260 mm infra-woofer to extend the system down to 20 Hz. This allows drums, orchestral recordings and bass heavy music to carry genuine physical presence while maintaining the control and definition expected from a Reference Collection loudspeaker.

Deep Low Control

Lilium lets its deepest bass adapt more naturally to the room around it.

The infra-woofer operates using Sonus faber’s Pressure Zone Interface, directing the lowest frequencies toward the floor to improve interaction with the listening environment. Deep Low Control allows the output of this section to be adjusted, helping owners balance Lilium’s considerable low frequency energy for different room sizes and placements.

Tuned Mass Damper

Internal resonance control gives the drivers a quieter foundation to work from.

Lilium incorporates a Tuned Mass Damper as part of its approach to controlling unwanted mechanical energy within the cabinet. By reducing the influence of structural vibration, the system helps preserve clarity, transient response and low level detail, especially when the speaker is reproducing demanding passages at realistic volume levels. The Absolute Sound specifically highlighted Lilium’s tuned mass damper and resonance controlled cabinet design when praising its performance.

Zero Vibration Transmission

Less energy reaches the floor, leaving more of the music intact.

Sonus faber’s Zero Vibration Transmission system helps decouple the loudspeaker from the listening room and reduce the transfer of unwanted mechanical vibration. This gives Lilium a more stable foundation, supporting cleaner bass and greater clarity throughout the frequency range.

Shaped by sound

The distinctive lyre inspired cabinet brings acoustic engineering and Italian design together.

Lilium’s double curvature enclosure avoids the conventional rectangular shape of many large loudspeakers, using carefully selected wood, leather, aluminum and tempered glass to create a structure that is both visually striking and acoustically purposeful. Its contrasting front and rear sections reflect the speaker’s dual chamber philosophy while preserving the handcrafted character associated with Sonus faber.

Award winning reference performance

Lilium has earned lasting recognition from some of the most respected names in high end audio.

The Absolute Sound selected Lilium for its Editors’ Choice awards in both 2020 and 2022, while Secrets of Home Theater and High Fidelity named it Recommended Gear in 2022. That publication was especially enthusiastic in its review, calling Lilium “one of the best speakers on planet earth.” Sonus faber also lists Lilium as a Secret Elite Winner for 2022.

Power and grace

Lilium can move from quiet detail to room filling dynamics without losing its composure.

With 92 dB sensitivity, a nominal 4 ohm impedance and recommended amplifier power from 100 to 800 watts, Lilium is designed to take advantage of serious high end amplification. Give it the electronics and room it deserves and it can deliver enormous scale, deep bass and explosive dynamics while preserving the tonal richness, intimacy and refinement that make the Sonus faber sound distinctive.

For listeners building a reference level system and looking for deep bass, effortless dynamics, natural tonality and true Italian craftsmanship, the Sonus faber Lilium brings strength and grace together in one extraordinary loudspeaker.

Features

28 mm DAD Arrow Point tweeter delivers smooth, open and detailed high frequencies.

Dedicated 180 mm midrange driver gives vocals and instruments natural texture, clarity and presence.

Three 180 mm woofers provide powerful, articulate bass with excellent dynamic impact.

260 mm infra woofer extends low frequency response down to 20 Hz for true full range performance.

Deep Low Control allows the lowest bass output to be adjusted for different rooms and speaker placements.

Pressure Zone Interface directs infra bass toward the floor for deeper and more even low frequency integration.

Tuned Mass Damper helps control cabinet resonance and preserve clarity at higher listening levels.

Zero Vibration Transmission reduces mechanical energy transferred into the floor for a cleaner, more stable presentation.

Lyre shaped dual curvature cabinet helps control internal resonances while giving Lilium its distinctive Sonus faber appearance.

92 dB sensitivity allows Lilium to deliver effortless dynamics with appropriately matched high end amplification.
