Inspired by the tradition of Italian violin making, but engineered for a modern reference system.

Each Amati G5 is handcrafted in Vicenza, Italy, with its curved lute-shaped cabinet formed from multiple layers of carefully finished wood. Sonus faber uses nine layers of wood along with multiple layers of lacquer, Italian leather and aluminum detailing to create a speaker that feels as much like fine furniture as high-performance audio equipment. The shape also contributes to cabinet rigidity and resonance control, allowing the drivers to work from a more stable enclosure.

Natural, open midrange

Voices and instruments are reproduced with the texture, scale and expression that give a recording its character.

At the heart of the Amati G5 is a dedicated 150 mm midrange driver powered by a neodymium magnet system. Its separate Intono chamber helps control internal acoustic pressure and isolates the midrange from the powerful bass section, helping vocals, strings and acoustic instruments remain clean and natural even when the music becomes demanding.

Detailed highs without losing refinement

The Amati G5 is designed to reveal fine detail without turning the listening experience bright or clinical.

A 28 mm DAD Arrow Point soft-dome tweeter extends the response to 35 kHz while Sonus faber’s Damped Apex Dome technology controls unwanted movement at the centre of the dome. The result is greater high-frequency extension, clarity and dispersion while preserving the smooth, relaxed presentation associated with Sonus faber.

Deep bass with speed and control

Two 220 mm woofers give the Amati G5 the weight to fill a large room while keeping bass lines clear and composed.

The redesigned woofers use Sonus faber’s Dual Drive Motor System and lightweight voice coils, working with the rear Stealth Ultraflex loading system to move substantial amounts of air with less unwanted turbulence. Bass reaches down to a specified 28 Hz, giving orchestral recordings, electronic music and large-scale performances genuine depth while maintaining definition through the rest of the mix.

Sonus faber’s Phase Coherent crossover uses carefully selected and hand-soldered components to control the relationship between the tweeter, midrange and dual woofers. Combined with the redesigned phase plug and carefully controlled driver dispersion, the system is designed to create a spacious, focused presentation both on and off axis.
