The Sonus faber Aida sits near the very top of the company’s Reference Collection, combining enormous scale with the warmth, texture and natural musicality that define the brand. Its 3 and 2/3 way design, dedicated subwoofer, Sound Field Shaper and advanced vibration control technologies allow it to reproduce everything from an intimate vocal recording to the full weight and dynamics of a large orchestra without making the system itself the centre of attention.

A 28 mm DAD Arrow Point tweeter and dedicated 180 mm midrange preserve the warm and involving character Sonus faber calls the Voice of Sonus faber. The result is a presentation that can expand far beyond the speakers while keeping voices focused, instruments full bodied and smaller musical details naturally connected to the performance.

Natural midrange and effortless detail

Voices stay intimate even when the system sounds enormous.

Aida’s 180 mm midrange uses a Neodymium magnet system and cellulose pulp cone, while the 28 mm extended range soft dome tweeter handles the highest frequencies. Together they give the speaker the resolution expected from a reference design without pushing detail unnaturally forward, allowing texture, ambience and subtle changes in a recording to emerge without making the presentation feel clinical.

Bass you can feel

Extension down to 18 Hz gives Aida a physical sense of scale few speakers can approach.

Two 220 mm woofers work alongside a dedicated 320 mm subwoofer to reproduce the lowest frequencies with serious authority. That depth gives drums, electronic music and large orchestral recordings the weight they deserve, while Aida’s bass systems are designed to keep that energy controlled and connected to the rest of the music rather than simply adding more low frequency output.

Stealth Ultraflex bass loading

More extension with less turbulence and unwanted vibration.

Sonus faber’s patented Stealth Ultraflex system manages the movement of air through the reflex enclosure while helping reduce total harmonic distortion and unwanted vibration. For the listener, that means Aida can produce exceptionally deep and powerful bass while maintaining the definition and composure expected from a reference level loudspeaker.

A soundstage beyond the speakers

The Sound Field Shaper helps Aida create a deeper and more dimensional listening space.

A rear mounted 29 mm DAD tweeter and two 80 mm midrange drivers form Sonus faber’s Sound Field Shaper, allowing the speaker to manage the relationship between direct and reflected sound in the room. Properly adjusted, the system can increase the sense of depth and ambience around recordings, helping the speakers disappear and allowing the presentation to extend well beyond the cabinets themselves.

A quieter foundation

Control the vibration before it has a chance to interfere with the music.

Aida combines a Tuned Mass Damper with Sonus faber’s Zero Vibration Transmission technology to manage the considerable mechanical energy produced by such a large loudspeaker. The Tuned Mass Damper uses suspended masses moving in opposition to structural resonances, while ZVT helps isolate unwanted vibration from the floor, giving the drivers a more stable foundation for cleaner bass, greater clarity and improved low level detail.

Built around the music

The cabinet is shaped as carefully as the drivers inside it.

Aida’s double curvature lute shaped enclosure uses high gloss wood, black leather and aluminum while avoiding the conventional parallel surfaces of a rectangular loudspeaker. Sonus faber’s Silent Case construction is designed to better control energy within the cabinet, allowing the distinctive shape to serve an acoustic purpose while giving Aida the appearance of a handcrafted musical instrument.
