McIntosh C12000 Tube/Solid State Preamplifier

Two sonic personalities and reference-level system control in one flagship preamplifier.

The McIntosh C12000 is built for listeners who want maximum flexibility from the heart of a high-end separates system. Its two-chassis design keeps the sensitive analog audio circuitry physically separated from the control and power sections, helping reduce interference and create a quieter foundation for greater detail, clarity and musical transparency.

Choose tubes or solid state

McIntosh Hybrid Drive technology gives you dedicated vacuum tube and solid-state outputs, allowing you to choose the presentation that best suits your system or listening preferences. The tube output can bring a richer, more dimensional character, while the solid-state path offers speed, control and clarity. Switching between them gives you two distinct ways to enjoy your system without changing components or rewiring anything.

Flexible analog and vinyl playback

With 12 analog inputs, including six balanced XLR, four unbalanced RCA and two configurable phono inputs, the C12000 has the connectivity to manage an extensive high-end system.

Both phono inputs can be configured for Moving Coil or Moving Magnet cartridges, with adjustable loading and gain. This gives vinyl listeners the flexibility to properly match a wide range of cartridges while reducing the need for a separate phono preamplifier.

Designed for a serious separates system

The C12000 uses fully balanced circuitry with isolated left and right channels to help maintain excellent separation, low noise and a spacious, well-defined presentation. Multiple tube and solid-state outputs also give you the freedom to connect different power amplifiers or build more advanced system configurations.

Home Theater Pass Through makes it easy to integrate the C12000 into a surround system while preserving a dedicated two-channel listening setup. A High Drive headphone output with McIntosh Headphone Crossfeed Director technology also provides a more natural and spacious experience for private listening.

The McIntosh C12000 is a strong choice for audiophiles who want the flexibility of tube and solid-state sound, extensive analog and vinyl connectivity, and reference-level control at the centre of a high-end audio system.
