Chris Martens of Hi-Fi+ wrote that Maggies are "so fast and so pure-sounding that they make most subs sound thick and slow" by comparison.
Adding a conventional subwoofer to a pair of Magnepans usually creates a mismatch you can hear — a fast, planar midrange sitting on top of a comparatively slow, boxy low end.
