A New Flagship Core

Years of in-house development have resulted in a completely new digital foundation for LUMIN.

At the heart of the X2 is LUMIN’s latest processing platform, working alongside custom FPGA control and the company’s first proprietary discrete DAC. By controlling the conversion architecture rather than designing around a conventional DAC chip, LUMIN can optimise everything from filtering and clock distribution to power delivery and signal routing as one complete system.

LUMIN’s First Discrete DAC

A custom dual-mono conversion stage gives the X2 a digital architecture unlike any previous LUMIN player.

The X2 uses two LUMIN Discrete DAC circuits in a fully balanced dual-mono layout, giving the left and right channels dedicated conversion paths. Dual Lundahl LL7401 output transformers provide additional isolation at the analogue outputs, while precision femto clocks and FPGA-based clock distribution are designed to keep timing errors and jitter exceptionally low.

Built Around Clean Power

Keeping electrical noise away from the audio circuitry starts before the signal even reaches the DAC.

The X2 separates its power supply from the main chassis using an external solid-billet CNC enclosure containing dual toroidal transformers, separate digital and analogue circuitry and low-noise linear regulation. Moving this hardware outside the player helps reduce electrical and mechanical interference while giving the sensitive digital and analogue stages a cleaner foundation.

High-Resolution Without Compromise

Native DSD512 and PCM768 support give the X2 the headroom to handle even the most demanding digital libraries.

The latest processing platform supports PCM playback up to 32-bit/768kHz and native DSD512, with flexible upsampling and downsampling available through the LUMIN software. Fibre Network Isolation

Optical networking helps separate your music system electrically from the rest of your home network.

Alongside conventional Gigabit Ethernet, the X2 includes an SFP fibre network connection for complete galvanic isolation. Both connections can also be used simultaneously, allowing the X2 to act as a network bridge for compatible storage or other LUMIN components while keeping the audio system isolated from unwanted network noise.

Streaming Made Simple

Reference-level hardware does not mean giving up the convenience that makes streaming enjoyable.

The X2 supports services including TIDAL Connect, Qobuz, Spotify Connect, Amazon Music, AirPlay 2 and TuneIn, alongside Roon, Plex and Audirvāna compatibility. The LUMIN app provides direct access to music, playlists, playback settings and system configuration from iOS and Android devices.

More Than Just a DAC

LUMIN’s lossless digital volume technology allows precise level adjustment while minimizing the rounding errors associated with conventional digital attenuation.
