The Gryphon Ethos is designed to make CD playback feel like a serious listening event. Its top-loading CD mechanism, gold-plated clamp, and illuminated disc well give you a more deliberate way to interact with your physical collection, while the dedicated transport and carefully isolated circuitry focus on extracting as much information from each disc as possible.
You'll also get a high-end DAC in the same chassis, making the Ethos useful beyond CD playback. Two ES9038PRO DAC chips operate in a dual-mono configuration, while the fully balanced Class A analog stage uses zero negative feedback and discrete circuitry. Selectable reconstruction filters and optional upsampling let you tailor the digital processing to your system and listening preferences.
The Ethos can also serve as the digital hub for other sources. USB accepts PCM up to 32-bit/384kHz and DSD512, while AES/EBU and S/PDIF accommodate external digital sources up to 24-bit/192kHz. Balanced XLR and single-ended RCA outputs make it easy to connect the Ethos directly to a preamplifier or power amplifier.
