A streamer, DAC, and preamp built around the AKM sound that a lot of listeners simply prefer.

Not every DAC chip sounds the same, and plenty of listeners gravitate toward AKM's house sound over the alternatives — smooth, natural, and detailed without tipping into clinical. The DMP-A8 Gen 2 is built around exactly that combination: an AK4191EQ digital processor paired with an AK4499EX DAC, splitting digital processing and D/A conversion across separate chips so each stage can be optimized on its own terms.

Volume control gets the high-end treatment too, using a fully balanced R2R resistor-ladder stage instead of a typical digital chip, which keeps the signal clean at any listening level. A new 8.6-inch touchscreen and a much faster octa-core processor (with 8GB of RAM) make browsing even a 200,000-track library fast — Eversolo says it can fully scan a library that size in about two hours. Round that out with SFP fiber networking, Wi-Fi 6, and an easily upgradable M.2 SSD slot, and you've got a genuinely modern digital hub built to anchor a serious system for years.

If you've been chasing that specific AKM sound in a genuinely complete streamer/DAC/preamp package, this is where to find it.
