The Aune S18 EVO is a high-performance digital-to-analog converter designed to bring precision, flexibility, and exceptional technical performance to a dedicated hi-fi system. Combining dual AKM AK4497 DAC chips with Aune’s third-generation fully synchronized PLL clocking technology, the S18 EVO is engineered to minimize timing errors and preserve the integrity of digital audio signals.

Dual AKM DAC Architecture

At the heart of the S18 EVO are two AKM AK4497 DAC chips operating in a synchronized dual-mono configuration. This mirrored design supports consistent left- and right-channel operation, while the dedicated clocking system helps maintain precise timing throughout the conversion process.

Advanced Clock Synchronization

For systems requiring an external reference, the S18 EVO also includes a 10MHz BNC clock input, allowing connection to a compatible external master clock such as Aune’s SC1 EVO.

The S18 EVO accommodates a wide range of digital sources through USB, coaxial, optical, AES/EBU, and Bluetooth inputs. Its XMOS XU316 USB interface supports PCM audio up to 32-bit/768kHz and native DSD512, while coaxial, optical, and AES/EBU connections support PCM up to 24-bit/192kHz.

Bluetooth connectivity adds convenient wireless playback, with support for LDAC and aptX HD codecs. Aune’s Bluetooth and PLL implementation is designed to synchronize the incoming digital signal before conversion.

Balanced and Single-Ended Outputs

With both balanced XLR and single-ended RCA analogue outputs, the S18 EVO integrates easily into a variety of two-channel systems. Connect it to a preamplifier, integrated amplifier, or compatible active loudspeakers.
