Aune S17 Headphone Amplifier

Aune A17 Flagship Class A Headphone Amplifier & Preamplifier

The Aune A17 is a flagship headphone amplifier designed for listeners who demand exceptional control, power, and refinement from their personal audio systems. Featuring a fully discrete, fully balanced Class A architecture, a sophisticated Twin JFET input stage, and an exceptionally robust power supply, the A17 combines high-end analogue engineering with the versatility to accommodate a wide range of headphones and system configurations.

Delivering up to 11.5 watts per channel into 32-ohm headphones through its balanced outputs, the A17 offers substantial power reserves for demanding planar magnetic designs and high-impedance dynamic headphones alike. Its selectable gain settings and two Class A current modes allow listeners to tailor its operation to different headphone requirements.

Pure Class A Amplification

At the heart of the A17 is a fully discrete, fully balanced Class A circuit designed to deliver a clean, stable, and highly controlled listening experience. The Twin JFET input stage contributes to the amplifier's carefully engineered analogue signal path, while three pairs of parallel output transistors per channel provide the current delivery needed to maintain control across demanding loads.

A dedicated 100-watt toroidal transformer powers the analogue section, supported by approximately 80,000 µF of filter capacitance. Separate power-supply rails serve the preamplifier and output stages, helping provide the operating stability and headroom required for sustained Class A performance.

Precision Volume Control and Flexible Operation

The A17 employs a JRC MUSES72323 electronic volume-control system with 99 adjustment steps and four synchronized channels. This arrangement is designed to maintain precise channel balance and consistent level control throughout the listening range.

Four selectable gain settings, ranging from 5.8 dB to 13.5 dB, work alongside two selectable Class A current modes to accommodate a broad range of headphone sensitivities and impedances.

Beyond headphone amplification, the A17 also functions as a dedicated analogue preamplifier, with both balanced XLR and single-ended RCA inputs and outputs. This makes it a versatile centrepiece for a high-performance desktop audio system or a compact two-channel setup.

Premium Construction and Everyday Convenience

Housed in a substantial aluminium chassis with an integrated multi-level thermal management structure, the A17 is engineered to manage the heat associated with Class A operation. Its three-layer internal shielding structure further reflects the attention given to circuit isolation and overall design.

Dual displays provide at-a-glance operating information, while dedicated physical controls and the included aluminium remote make everyday operation straightforward.

With its combination of high-current Class A amplification, balanced connectivity, and preamplifier functionality, the Aune A17 is an ambitious solution for listeners seeking reference-level performance from a dedicated headphone system.
