Classe Audio was started in the 80s by David Reich, hence DR. His mission was to design and make the best electronics available, and the DR5 fulfills the mission.
Using top quality parts, huge power supply, paired with incredible attention to the smallest details, this preamp still performs better than most. You'd have to spend many thousands to match it. If you know, you know. That's why they rarely come up for sale.
