When Val Cora finally decided to turn his passion into Acora Acoustics, he spared no expense. Everything was examined and painstakingly tested:
Drivers
Tweeter
For the MRC range, Acora engineers selected a refined one-inch ceramic dome tweeter, chosen for its ability to reveal the delicate emotion and expressive detail within every performance. Its advanced design features dual neodymium magnets and a vented titanium voice coil former, delivering low distortion, wide dynamic range, and minimal compression, even at high output.
Carefully voiced for musical truth, this tweeter doesn’t just extend the highs — it brings them to life with a sense of air, nuance, and effortless clarity that invites deeper listening.
Midrange/Woofer
The MRC’s midbass driver is the beating heart of the speaker, handling the crucial range where rhythm, tone, and emotion live.
Selected and tuned by Acora engineers, this driver delivers rich, natural warmth, with the speed and control needed to convey both dynamic impact and delicate nuance.
Whether it’s the weight of a cello, the punch of a kick drum, or the resonance of a human voice, the midbass brings each moment to life with clarity and soul.Every note feels grounded, textured, and true — forming a seamless connection between the foundation of the bass and the clarity of the highs.
Crossover
The MRC’s crossover is the result of meticulous engineering and countless hours of listening, designed to ensure that the speaker itself fades away — leaving only the performance, presence, and pure emotion of the music. Every component was chosen with purpose. Capacitors and inductors from Mundorf deliver precision and transparency, while oxygen-free, continuous cast copper wiring from Cardas preserves signal integrity with effortless flow.
The connection to your system is made through custom Rhodium-plated copper binding posts, also from Cardas — elegant, durable, and sonically transparent. Together, these elements form a path where nothing gets in the way of the music — only the artist, the space, and the moment remain.
Enclosure
The vast majority of speakers use wood or MDF. Some use Aluminum or composite material. Acora tried them all and rejected them. Ultimately, only Stone had the hardness, density and rigidity to allow the drivers to perform at their best.
The MRC 2 uses Marble for its density, rigidity and natural beauty.
Rated sensitivity is 92 dB, 4 ohms, which means it is quite easy to drive. If you've heard Acora at shows, you know that the speakers are always in huge rooms, yet there is no strain at all, even with tube amplifiers.
I remember very clearly the first time I heard Acora speakers at the 2019 Rocky Mountain Audio Show. The huge room was divided into 2 listening sections by room dividing cloth. Each section was still very large. The little SRB speakers sounded MUCH bigger and filled the room very easily. The SRC2 blew me away with its speed, leading edge like a superb electrostatic speaker, but with full range bass. The imaging was sharp with outrageously huge sound stage.
I was sold. After years of hoping, I had finally found a truly world class Canadian speaker with NO Apologies! One that EASILY competes with the very best.
Don't take my word for it. Just search "Acora" online and see the multitudes of reviews and show reports. Acora gets "Best Sound of the Show" almost every time.
Here is a quote from Phil Gold, Soundstage Ultra magazine about the smaller MRC 2 speakers
"Let me state this right out front: the Acora MRC‑2 is a very impressive loudspeaker, regardless of price. It is the first speaker I’ve had in my room that can hold a candle to the YG Acoustics Hailey 2.2 ($55,800 USD), which is my reference."
Notes:
1. Canadian buyers please add the appropriate tax
2. Buyer pays shipping and all associated import costs. The speakers weigh about 180 lbs each before boxing
