AudioQuest Niagara 7000 and 1000 – The best Power Conditioner products available?

I walked into Audioquest’s suite at the 2015 Las Vegas CES to see what was new. Steve Silberman, who I first met when he was the Ayre Acoustics Sales Manager and now with Audioquest (Steve is one of the most knowledgeable people in the industry regarding Computer Music, and was one of the key people responsible for bringing the Dragonfly to the market), proudly showed me some new things that he was working on, then insisted that I listen to the upcoming Niagara 7000 power conditioner. Apparently Audioquest had been working on this unit for a number of years and was getting ready to launch it.

The man responsible for the R&D is Garth Powell, one of the foremost experts in power technology. (Garth formerly worked for Furman Sound. They ensure the reliability of the power systems for over 90% of broadcast tv companies in the US) Garth is now the Director of Power Products at Audioquest, and does all the research and development. He is also an active jazz musician/percussionist).

Garth started out by describing the issues of power; high contamination of noise, spikes, brownouts etc. He then spoke about the different ways that power conditioners have attempted to correct these issues, and the compromises. Then he went into some detail about the extensive lengths that Audioquest has allowed him to explore and research, leading to the birth of the Niagara 7000….
